Sirindhorn Hospital
Today we visited Sirindhorn Hospital in the eastern side of Bangkok and met with pharmacists, a surgeon, and an EMT. We learned about their pharmacy operations and health care system in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and compared it with the U.S. We also had a lecture about emergency medical services in Thailand and were able to visit their emergency room and see a Thai ambulance. Before leaving, they were gracious enough to also show us their traditional medicine clinic. Here they do both Chinese and Thai medicine that includes acupuncture, cupping, and massages. Some of us students were able to experience these firsthand, I personally did cupping. This is a form of alternative medicine that uses suction on different parts of the body to release tension, it leaves a mark!
