Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park

Hello from Thailand! Today we hiked Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park located on the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province (about a 3 hour drive from Bangkok). It is the first marine national park in Thailand and totals to 3.5 miles roundtrip. Khao Sam Roi Yot means "the mountain with three hundred peaks" and refers to a series of limestone hills along the Gulf of Thailand with the highest peak at 605 meters! The northwest corner of the mountain (as seen on the map) is called Thung Sam Roi Yot and is mostly a freshwater marsh that that covers 37% of the national park, making it the largest wetlands area in Thailand. The hike included lots of rocky terrain, beach views and even the Phraya Nakhon Cave! The cave houses the royal pavilion. The first part of our trip we hiked up and down a mountain, which lead to a beautiful beach front view. We were all pretty eager to get to the cave so we didn't spend too much time on the beach. Right after the beach we ventured to another mountain which we had to climb in order to get to the cave. Personally, many breaks were needed throughout this hike as it was moderately difficult. However, we all made it through as a group together, with much encouragement and support from one another! The Phraya Nakhon Cave was absolutely breathtaking and well worth all the sweat (of 8,000 steps) we experienced to get there!
